Tulsa, city of Tracy Letts. Tulsa is not exactly a booming metropolis to begin with, and then when you add two feet of snow, it really dulls down! However, because our show is set in a small town outside of Tulsa (Pawhuska), and because Tracy is the first native Oklahoman ever to win a Pulitzer prize, the city of Tulsa was really excited to have us there, and made us very welcome.
Our first night there, the mayor of Tulsa was in attendance to offer Tracy the key to the city, and declare it “Tracy Letts Day”! So there was a ceremony, and then a great party afterwards with a fantastic 3-piece bluegrass band. And, in honor of the occasion, I actually dug a frock out of my trunk and dressed up for the first time in quite a while!
The shows were great in Tulsa – huge, friendly, loving houses, very excited and gratified company, high energy all around. A really rewarding experience.
Other exciting event to occur in Tulsa – I saw a cousin of mine whom I haven’t seen in at least twenty years! (We both look a little different now.) See pic below.
